Hansen colt tops CTHS British Columbia yearling and mixed sale

A $65,000 colt from the first crop of stallion Hansen topped the horses on offer at the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (British Columbia Division) yearling and mixed sale, which posted across-the board gains over last year’s edition.

The single-day sale ended Wednesday with 84 horses sold for total revenues of $1,047,400, up 14 percent from last year’s renewal, when 91 horses brought $918,000. The average sale price rose 20 percent from $14,343 to $17,170, while the median increased 65 percent from $8,500 to $14,000.

The buyback rate closed at 16 percent, improving significantly from last year’s figure of 25 percent.

Glenn Todd purchased the sale topper, named Hansen’s Victory, who is the first foal out of the multiple stakes-winning Storm Victory mare Victory With Class. Bred in Kentucky by 3840 Equine L.L.P., the colt is from the family of stakes winners Classic Alley Kat, Calledons Prospect, Punchbowl, Powerful Touch, and Active Duty. He was consigned by Jamie Demetrick, agent.

Bryan and Carol Anderson led the sale’s consignors with two horses sold for a combined $78,000. The pair was led by a $51,000 Drosselmeyer filly who sold to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for $51,000.

Glenn Todd was the sale’s leading buyer, with three purchases totaling $114,000, led by the sale topper.
