Half a Glance sharp

Half a Glance, looking to put together back-to-back stakes wins, will be favored in the $50,000 Farer Belle Lee Handicap at Great Lakes Downs. The Farer Belle Lee, for Michigan-bred fillies and mares, is contested over 1 1/16 miles.

Half a Glance shares top weight of 120 pounds with Nell's Enjoyment, who finished fourth as the favorite in the July 21 Moonbeam. On that day, Half a Glance rallied on the far turn to get up by two lengths over Silent Sunset and Deb's Favoite Gift, both of whom are back in the Farer Belle Lee. Ricardo Barrios has a return call on Half a Glance.

Half a Glance and stablemate Creative Miss, the reigning state champion mare, are both owned by Todd Weddon and trained by Scott Sowle, but will race uncoupled in the wagering. Mary Doser is named aboard Creative Miss, who won this race last year.

Nell's Enjoyment, a 4-year-old owned, bred, and trained by Shane Spiess, is winless this year, but was the best of her class last year in Michigan, winning her division of the Michigan Sire Stakes. She was second to the shipper L's Lightning in a recent tune-up for this race. Tommy Molina will ride.
