Half-brothers clash in Amadevil

Half-brothers Bevys Best and Bevys Dazzler will meet on the track for the first time when a field of six contest the $15,000 Amadevil Stakes for older Nebraska-breds going six furlongs at Columbus.

Both Bevys Best and Bevys Dazzler have a history of winning. Four-year-old Bevys Best has compiled a lifetime mark of 6-1-1 from 9 starts, while older brother Bevys Dazzler, 5, sports a mark of 10-1-4 from 19 career starts.

Bevys Best is the likely favorite in this competitive field, with a pair of wins from his three starts this year for trainer Larry Staroscik. Bevys Best won both the Ogataul for statebreds and the Budweiser Tondi Stakes at Fonner Park this spring. He was then second in the Speed Stakes at Lincoln on May 17 in his last start.

Bevys Dazzler was claimed for $5,000 in his last start here July 31 by trainer Marv Johnson. Racing at the lowest level of his career, Bevys Best went to the front but came over on rivals entering the first turn and had his number taken down. He was third in this race a year ago, when he posted 5 wins from 9 starts.

There is an abundance of speed in this race, and the pace should work to the advantage of Show My Dancer, who comes off a win in the one-mile Who Doctor Who Stakes at Horsemen's Park. Show My Dancer gained his first stakes win that day and should be doing his best running through the stretch.
