Hackendiffy out for third stakes win

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Hackendiffy seeks his third stakes win Sunday at Thistledown when he matches strides with nine Ohio-bred 2-year-olds over 1 1/16 miles in the $75,000 Juvenile Stakes.

Hackendiffy, a grey or roan son of Willowy Ambassador-Angel Puss, by Wolf Power, is a half-bother to U S S Tinosa, who won both this race and the Best of Ohio Juvenile last year.

U S S Tinosa further distinguished himself by winning the Sham Stakes at Santa Anita and finishing second in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes. In his last start, U S S Tinosa finished sixth in the Preakness.

Owned by David Eigel and trained by Bernie Flint, Hackendiffy has won the six-furlong Hoover Stakes at River Downs and the Cleveland Kindergarten here. In his most recent start he tired to be fifth in the Ellis Park Juvenile going seven furlongs.

Hackendiffy likes to run on the lead and will be difficult to catch under jockey Mike Rowland. Under the allowance conditions of the race he carries 118 pounds.

Ifufeelfroggyleap, a quick filly who will be facing colts, has won her last two starts - the six-furlong Loyalty here and the Tah Dah at River Downs. Julio Felix will ride at 115 pounds for trainer Tim Hamm.

Others with a chance in the race are Forest Picnic and Buckeye Teddy.

* Thistledown will not race Sept. 10-15. When racing resumes Sept. 16, first post will be changed to 12:55 p.m. On Sept. 18, Thistledown and Beulah Park will resume the 7 & 7 racing format, under which the two tracks share a single simulcast signal and alternate races.
