Gulfstream's Super Hi 5 pays $205,788; Rainbow 6 returns $48,407

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 was the big news heading into Thursday’s program at Gulfstream Park, but in the end, it was the Super Hi 5 payoff that made headlines after one player took down the entire pool for $205,788.70.

Like the Rainbow 6, the entire Super Hi 5 pool, which began with a carryover in excess of  $43,000, had to be dispersed Thursday, the final day of Gulfstream’s current meeting.  And when the 44-1 Gameday Spanking won the nightcap and the 103-1 El Cobre finished third, the unlikely result keyed a 4-2-3-1-all winning combination that led to the big payoff.

Gameday Spanking, trained by Luis Arzola and ridden by Pedro Monterey Jr., also completed the lucrative Rainbow 6 payoff of $48,407.92 for a 20-cent wager. The earlier winners in the sequence were Quick Hall, R Lovely Lindsey, Saturday Special, Capriccio Blue, and U. S. S. O’Brien.  R Lovely Lindsey was the only favorite among the six winners in the Rainbow 6.

A total of $572,514 was added to the more than $123,000 carried over Thursday in the Rainbow 6, while $191,045 was bet Thursday in the Super Hi 5, which is a $1 wager.

Gulfstream’s Tropical meeting begins Friday.

Bullcrap. Nobody got paid $205k . Horse tracks are not in business to pay out $205k to anybody. Stop with the lies already. Smh.

Correct, the total pool was only 191K, and after takeout I imagine the winner got less than 150K. DRF is irresponsible for posting this kind of garbage.

According to the DRF site the late Pick 5 paid $252 for $.50 and the parlay was almost $4100, did it really pay 5% of the parlay when it normally pays about 120% of the parlay?

It paid $252 for 4 out of 5, no one hit 5 out of 5 and the whole pool had to be paid out
