HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Ruler On Ice is not considering to be among the leading contenders for an Eclipse in the 3-year-old division. But he did win the Belmont Stakes and finished third in the Breeders' Cup Classic, third in the Grade 1 Haskell, and fourth in the Travers this year. Trained by Kelly Breen, he closed out the season finishing fifth in the Grade 1 Clark.

“He came up with a little lung infection coming out of the Clark, but he’s back training at Palm Meadows and should have a work around the first of the year,” Breen said. “We’ll get him ready for a race in February, either the Donn in Florida or the Strub in California.”

Breen also reported that Pants on Fire, ninth in this year’s Kentucky Derby but idle since finishing fifth in the Haskell, is expected to have his first work on the comeback trail sometime next week at Palm Meadows. “We just gave him a little break after the Haskell,” said Breen. “It’s a little too early to pick out a race for him. I just want to get him back on the workout sheet first.”
