Royal Delta will use the Grade 3 Sabin as a prep for the $10 million Dubai World Cup.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Two-time Eclipse Award winner Royal Delta continues to progress toward her much-anticipated 5-year-old debut here a week from Sunday in the Grade 3 Sabin after breezing six furlongs in 1:15 at Payson Park on Sunday morning. Trainer Bill Mott is planning on using the Sabin as a prep for the $10 million Dubai World Cup, as he did a year ago.

“It was a nice, easy work for her,” said Mott. “She’s doing well. She seems like a little stronger mare this year than she was when going from 3 to 4 and running in the Sabin last winter, when she still maybe wasn’t totally filled out yet.”

Royal Delta finished a distant second behind Awesome Maria in the 2012 Sabin.

What a wonderful racemare she is. I can respect the lure of $10 million but realistically it will be a trip to Dubai for the minor spoils I'm afraid. Royal Delta has done almost everything asked of her against her own kind but to expect her to travel that far to a totally different climate and perform at her best against the best in the world maybe asking just a little too much. I think Billy knows this but this guy paid an arm and a leg for her and should at anytime she disgrace herself, she will show up at the foot of Bernardini's stall seeking a little affection and a family! I love this mare but I really see a trip to Dubai as a waste of time except for the owner rubbing elbows with Sheik Mohammed and his brothers.

If Bill Mott did not think it right to run her back in Dubai, he wouldn't do it.
