Gulfstream Park: Groupie Doll dealing with infection

Groupie Doll is being pointed to a return in the Grade 2 Inside Information on March 17.

Groupie Doll, who is almost a sure thing to receive an Eclipse Award here next weekend, has still not been to the track since arriving on the grounds nearly two weeks ago. Groupie Doll dominated her division in 2012, highlighted by an easy victory in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.

“Her temperature was a little elevated the day after she arrived, and her blood showed she was fighting some kind of an infection,” trainer Buff Bradley said. “She’s been normal ever since, but we didn’t want to stress her out or cause a major problem by rushing her back to the track. You wouldn’t know there was anything wrong looking at her now. She’s eating everything and feels good, but we’ll pull two more bloods before sending her back to the track.”

Bradley is pointing Groupie Doll to the Grade 2 Inside Information on March 17 and said he still should have no problem getting her ready for the race.

“She came in here pretty darn fit just from being turned out on the farm, and we still have plenty of time to make the race,” Bradley said.
