Gulfstream: Grace Hall still on target for Davona Dale

Grace Hall could make her 3-year-old debut in the Grade 2 Davona Dale on Feb. 25 at Gulfstream Park.

Though trainer Tony Dutrow canceled a Wednesday morning workout for Grace Hall, he said the Grade 1 winner remains on course to make her 3-year-old debut in the Grade 2, $250,000 Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 25.

Dutrow pushed the work back from Wednesday to Thursday due to wet track conditions at Palm Meadows caused by overnight rains.

Grace Hall won her first three starts, including the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga, before finishing second to My Miss Aurelia in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Following the Breeders’ Cup, Grace Hall got a month off at a farm in Kentucky before joining Dutrow’s string at Palm Meadows on Dec. 1. She began galloping on Dec. 15 and has had two half-mile breezes at Palm Meadows.

“If everything stays the way it is right now we’ve got plenty of time to get that done,” Dutrow said of making the Davona Dale. “She’ll have a nice work [Thursday] and we’ve got plenty of time for three more after that. The filly’s great. We’ll see what type of 3-year-old she becomes.”
