Guidry to ride Saratoga meeting

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Jockey Mark Guidry, a two-time leading rider at Arlington and currently atop the jockey standings, is leaving Monday to ride the Saratoga meet, which begins Wednesday.

Guidry's agent, Ronnie Ebanks, said Guidry has three calls at Saratoga Wednesday and he expects Guidry to be more active beginning Thursday.

Ebanks, who became Guidry's agent in May when Guidry parted ways with longtime agent Dennis Cooper, said despite his rider's leading position at Arlington, he has struggled to attract business.

"We had a hot start and everything was good, but we've been struggling," Ebanks said. "I can't understand it. You've got the leading rider here, and nobody's giving him the respect."

Ebanks said he expects to fill a void at Saratoga this year. His old client, Shane Sellers, is injured, and another Midwestern jockey who usually rides at Saratoga, Robby Albarado, is staying at Arlington.
