Guidry goes out a winner

EmailMark Guidry closed out his outstanding riding career by winning with one of five mounts Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

Guidry won the eighth race with Eaton's Gift ($7.40)

before finishing seventh in the Mrs. Revere Stakes aboard Bel Air Beauty and ninth with

his final career mount, the maiden Holy Roman Empire, in the last of 10 races.

Guidry, 48, concludes his 32-year career with 5,043 wins. He is retiring with the hopes of becoming a steward.

Churchill honored Guidry in a winner's circle ceremony following the sixth race Saturday, with the track's president, Steve Sexton, and vice president, John Asher, giving brief spoken tributes.
