Gucci for You up a notch off win in last

AUBURN, Wash. - Gucci for You will try to make it two wins in a row on Thursday when he heads a field of eight $7,500 claimers and nonwinners of three races in the one-mile feature at Emerald Downs.

Gucci for You, a 4-year-old son of Free at Last from the barn of trainer George Colello, is coming off a one-length score over $7,500 claiming nonwinners of two races on Aug. 2, running the mile race in 1:37.60.

In his only other start around two turns, Gucci for You finished a close second behind Confidential Slew in a mile race for $12,500 claiming nonwinners of two on June 23. Gucci for You retains rider Ricky Frazier on Thursday, and breaks from the rail post.

Gucci for You figures to get a stern test from For the Prize, who is coming off a creditable second against $7,500 claiming nonwinners of three at 1 1/8 miles here on July 22. For the Prize, 5, was re-claimed out of that race by his former trainer, Chris Stenslie, and he will be reunited on Thursday with rider Jose Zunino, who was up for his last win on July 4. On that day, For the Prize posted an impressive 4 1/4-length score over $7,500 claiming nonwinners of two, covering the mile in 1:36.

Chick Magnet is a wire-to-wire threat. He ran second under Thursday's conditions in June and has run against better in two subsequent starts. In his last out, Aug. 3, Chick Magnet led for almost a mile before fading to finish seventh in $7,500 starter allowance company at 1 1/4 miles.
