Jockey Jose Montano took no prisoners Saturday in the $75,000 West Virginia Lottery on Breeders Classic night at Charles Town, sending Grumpelstiltskin from the gate and hooking second choice Unrideabull early in the seven-furlong race. The strategy paid off as Grumpelstiltskin showed his superiority by pulling away to a 5 3/4-length win. Based in New York with trainer Jeremiah Englehart, Grumpelstiltskin had finished third in first-level allowance races at Saratoga and Belmont Park in his last two starts. He paid $4.40 to win in the West Virginia Lottery and was timed in a rapid 1:25.25. Grumpelstiltskin and Unrideabull, the top locally based 3-year-old, were fanned four wide and three wide, respectively, into the first turn. They battled through splits of 23.00 and 46.48 before jockey Carlos Castro eased Unrideabull back off Grumpelstiltskin. Unrideabull chased the winner to the stretch and then tired to finish fourth. Brass Bull rallied willingly to finish second, 2 1/4 lengths in front of third-place Jacky's Man. It was 4 1/2 lengths farther back to Unrideabull. Grumpelstiltskin is now 2 for 5. He races for the August Dawn Farm of Bill Parcells. Division of Tourism: Groomed to Rock rolls Groomed to Rock launched a four-wide bid on the second turn of the $75,000 Division of Tourism that carried her to a 1 1/4-length victory. Groomed to Rock defeated nine 3-year-old filly rivals in the seven-furlong Division of Tourism. She paid $26.60 and was timed in 1:27.39. Groomed to Rock is owned and was bred by Randall Conrad. She is trained by Stephen Reggetts and was ridden by Matthew McGowan. Groomed to Rock had finished seventh in her only previous stakes attempt. She came into the Division of Tourism off a statebred allowance victory. She is now 4 for 13 in her career. Tricky Windsor rallied to finish second, a neck in front of Gallant Calling. Onion Juice: Help a Brother leads throughout Jockey Carlos Castro sent Help a Brother hard from post 10 in the seven-furlong Onion Juice and they made a clear lead before reaching the first turn. The race was as good as over at that point, and Help a Brother cruised home to win the $80,000 race by 3 1/2 lengths. The win was the 13th of Help a Brother's career and his second in the Onion Juice, which he also won in 2015. Help a Brother, 8, finished second in the Onion Juice a year ago and finished fourth in 2014, beaten a half-length. Help a Brother, owned, bred, and trained by Lewis Craig Jr., paid $4.60 and covered the distance in 1:25.49. Hear the Chatter, who chased the winner throughout, was second, three-quarters of a length ahead of Allen's Castle in third.
