Long Island Sound, who earned a Group 3 victory Ireland, will retire to Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Fla., for the 2018 breeding season, where he will stand for an advertised fee of $5,000.

The 5-year-old War Front horse won four of 10 starts for earnings of $213,315, headlined by a win in the Group 3 Paddy Power Diamond Stakes in Ireland. He also finished second in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes and third in the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes in England.

Long Island Sound raced for the Coolmore partnership and Joseph Allen, and he was trained by Aidan O’Brien.

Bred in Kentucky by Edward Cox Jr., Long Island Sound is out of the unplaced Pulpit mare Treasure Trail, who is a half-sister to Hall of Famer Zenyatta. Treasure Trail is the dam of two winners from three runners. The family also includes Grade 1 winner Balance and Grade 2 winner She’s Not Here.

“Long Island Sound was absolutely brilliant winning his first three starts,” said Michelle Hemingway, director of bloodstock at Pleasant Acres Stallions. “He is from the direct family of the peerless Zenyatta, who won 19 consecutive races in her 20-race career. We believe he will be very attractive to breeders in Florida.”
