Group 1 winner Intense Focus represented by first winner

Group 1 winner Intense Focus was represented by his first winner on April 1 when his daughter Intense Feeling won at Warwick Racecourse in Warwick, England.

It was the third career start for the 2-year-old filly, who made virtually all of the pace and handily defeated stablemate Gin Time by two lengths. She covered five furlongs in 1:05.61 over turf rated good to soft.

Intense Feeling is the fifth winner out of the unraced Fairy King mare Titania, a half-sister to stakes placed Twilight Patrol.

Intense Focus won two of 11 career starts, bankrolling $649,005. The 7-year-old Giant's Causeway horse enjoyed his best season as a juvenile, winning the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes in England and finishing third in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagarde-Grand Criterium in France. He also finished second in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes in England and third in the Group 2 Rainway Stakes in Ireland. The following season, he trained on to place second in the Group 3 Two Thousand Guineas Trial Stakes in Ireland.

Bred in Kentucky by Robert N. Clay and Airdrie Stud, Intense Focus is out of the Group 3-placed Danehill mare Daneleta. Daneleta is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Danelissima and to two other stakes-placed winners. Intense Focus’s second dam, the stakes-winning Kahyasi mare Zavaleta, is a half-sister to Group 1 winner and sire Sholokhov and two other stakes winners. It is the family of  multiple Group 1 winner Soldier of Fortune

Intense Focus stands at Ballylinch Stud in County Kilkenny, Ireland. His 2-year-old son out of the Dansili mare Runway Dancer recently tied for the top price of 70,000 euros at the Goffs Ready to Run sale.
