Grey Gatsby, Prince Gibraltar meet again in Grand Prix de Paris

The Grey Gatsby and Prince Gibraltar, the first and third finishers of the Group 1 French Derby on June 1, lead a field of 11 in Sunday’s $816,480 Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp Racecourse.

Trained by Kevin Ryan for Frank Gillespie, The Grey Gatsby, by Mastercraftsman, has won his last two starts, including the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York, England, in May. In the French Derby, The Grey Gatsby won by three lengths over Shamkiyr, who was a head in front of Prince Gibraltar.

The Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris is run over about 1 1/2 miles. Ryan Moore rides The Grey Gatsby.

Prince Gibraltar, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, won the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud last November and the Prix Greffulhe this year in his first start of the season.

The field for the Grand Prix de Paris also includes Guardini, the winner of the Group 3 Prix du Lys this year, and the listed stakes winners Auvray, Golden Guepard, and Muchocambo.
