Great Love turns back challenges to win Tom Ridge

Email

Great Love dueled on the turn before drawing clear in the stretch and then held off a late charge to win the $100,000 Tom Ridge at Presque Isle Downs on Saturday night.

Trained by John Robb, Great Love was kept just off the early pace before rallying at the half-mile pole to take the lead. Jockey Erick Rodriguez then asked Great Love for his best and he responded by drawing clear in midstretch. He was all out to hold off a hard-charging He Ain't Right to win by a half-length. Perfect Officer was another length back in third.

Great Love returned $10.60 to win and ran the six furlongs over the Tapeta surface in 1:10.08.
