Great Lakes: Three top fillies clash

The $50,000 Regret Stakes, the first stakes of the Great Lakes Downs 2006 meet, brings together nine 3-year-old fillies, including three of the top juveniles from last year. Easy Ellie, the Michigan Sire Stakes champion, will face Fiji Island, a two-time local stakes winner, and Charedi's Peak, winner of the Michigan Juvenile Fillies.

Easy Ellie, from the barn of leading trainer Bob Gorham, has raced just once this year. After an awkward start, she was fifth in an optional claimer against older filly and mares.

James Jackson has entered a pair of homebreds, Fiji Island and Money Code, for owner Ro Parra. Both finished ahead of Easy Ellie in last year's Sickles Image Stakes. Fiji Island, who won all three of her starts over this track last year, hasn't started since Dec. 26, when she was unplaced in the Gowell Stakes at Turfway Park.

Money Code won a statebred allowance race here on opening day, May 6.

Charedi's Peak is 2 for 2 at Great Lakes. She was unplaced twice over the winter at Tampa Bay.
