Great Lakes: Moonbeam rematch

Email

Sweetwater Promise, unraced since winning the $50,000 Moonbeam Handicap on July 23, and Deb's Favoite Gift are the co-highweights in the $50,000 Farer Belle Lee Handicap at Great Lakes Downs. The 1 1/16-mile race is restricted to Michigan-bred fillies and mares.

The 6-year-old Sweetwater Promise, trained by James Jackson, is a past champion at Great Lakes and the only horse in the field to have won a stakes at the current meet.

Deb's Favoite Gift was second to Sweetwater Promise in the Moonbeam. Trained by meet leader Gerald Bennett, Deb's Favoite Gift has three allowance wins plus a third in the Larkspur Handicap from five starts this meet. She will be ridden by the meet's leading jockey, Terry Houghton.

Reasonable Code, third in the Moonbeam, has won two allowance races since then for trainer Pedro Martinez. Ima Bender Boo, trained by Bob Gorham, has won three straight allowance races.
