Great Lakes: Maxie Match streaking

Maxie Match will try to make it four in a row when she faces seven 3-year-old Michigan-bred fillies in the $50,000 Ann Arbor Stakes at Great Lakes Downs. The Ann Arbor will be contested at a mile over this five-furlong track.

Maxie Match, out of the money only once, won the $50,000 Plymouth Stakes on July 16. Trained by Dave Kueffner, Maxie Match followed that win with an allowance tally over older rivals two weeks later. Jose Delgado, who rode her in both of those races, will be in from Thistledown for the mount. The pair will break from post 2.

A Matchlite filly owned and bred by Patti Dickinson, Maxie Match will face four of her Plymouth foes Saturday, including Foolininthe-meadow, the top juvenile filly in Michigan last year. An allowance winner July 30, Foolininthemeadow will be ridden by Natividad Alcala.

Creative Miss finished fourth in the Plymouth, beaten just a length by Maxie Match. Creative Miss will make her first start back for trainer Scott Sowle, whose wife, Mary Doser, will handle the reins.
