Great Lakes Downs track report

MUSKEGON, Mich. - The entry of I Match Too and Charlies Indian is the morning-line choice in Friday's Moonbeam Handicap at Great Lakes Downs. The Moonbeam, which attracted a full field of 10 Michigan-bred fillies and mares, will be contested at one mile around three turns.

Terry Houghton has the mount on Charlies Indian, who won the Larkspur Handicap two starts back. Trainer Ronnie Allen owns Charlies Indian with the Volar Corporation, which also owns I Match Too. Charlies Indian, who has never been off the board while winning four races here, will carry 117 pounds.

I Match Too will be asked to shoulder high weight of 119 pounds, the same as the veteran Tank Grrrl. Luis Martinez Sr. has the mount on I Match Too, a winner of four of seven starts this year.

Tank Grrrl, a past champion here, was second by a neck to I Match Too in her last out. Trainer Suzanne Vandersalm has engaged Octavio Bernal for the Moonbeam. The pair will break from the outside.

* Terry Houghton is comfortably on top of the jockey standings, leading the injured Freddie Mata 77

to 49. After a hat trick last Saturday, Houghton won four races Sunday. Felipe Santos rode three winners on the same card.

Mata said he hoped to be back in the saddle soon, but declined to give a date. A pin was inserted in his left ankle after a training accident at the starting gate in June.

Trainer Gerald Bennett won four races on Monday's card, padding his lead over Randy Russell, 41 to 27.
