Great Lakes Downs track report

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Rockem Sockem upset his highly regarded stablemate Heza Mountain Man in Tuesday night's $45,000 Patrick Wood Stakes at Great Lakes Downs. Rockem Sockem ($8.60), runner-up in his last three starts, won his maiden by a neck in the six-furlong race for 2-year-olds.

Bob Gorham trains both Rockem Sockem and Heza Mountain Man, who came into the race off a victory in the Little Ones Stakes on Aug. 23. He defeated Rockem Sockem by nearly two lengths that day.

* Stellar One was awarded victory in Monday's Sickle's Image Stakes when favored Zosia's Genius was disqualified and placed sixth for interference in the early going of the six-furlong race.

Mary Doser, aboard Stellar One, claimed that Zosia's Genius dropped over to the rail without being clear the first time under the wire. She said that the filly interfered with Mackinaw Island, who finished sixth, and pushed that one down onto her mount, who had to steady while racing against the rail.

* The Michigan Office of the Racing Commissioner will hold a hearing on Oct. 15 in regard to racing dates for 2004. Great Lakes Downs, the only all-Thoroughbred track in the state, has asked for 118 dates from April 25 to Oct. 30, practically the same schedule as the track has in 2003.
