Great Lakes Downs track report

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Secret Romeo, twice a seasonal champion at Great Lakes Downs, heads a field of 10 runners, including a stable coupling, in the $45,000 Wolverine Stakes on Saturday evening. The Wolverine, at six furlongs, will be the eighth race on the 10-race card.

Secret Romeo, owned by Anthony Catenacci, is coming out of a tough race, the $500,000 Oaklawn Handicap, but won two stakes races, the $100,000 Lost Code at Sportsman's Park and the $50,000 Super Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs before that. Trained by Gerald Bennett, Secret Romeo has nine victories in 13 starts at Great Lakes.

Regular rider Terry Houghton will have the mount on Secret Romeo, who drew post 3 and will shoulder highweight of 123 pounds, spotting from three to 10 pounds to his rivals.

Above the Wind, winner of the Frontier and Beau Genius handicaps here last year, won an allowance race May 11 and had something left in reserve after winning by nearly six lengths.

Bob Miller will start two horses: past local champion That Gift and That Monetary. Both are owned by Susan Daly and will be coupled in the wagering. That Gift tuned up with an allowance win here May 18, while That Monetary finished third in his only start at this meet.
