Great Lakes Downs track report

Trainer Wayne Minnock is 1 for 1 at Great Lakes Downs this year after shipping in from Kentucky to capture Monday's $45,000 Lansing Stakes with Speak of Kings.

Speak of Kings ($5.80) won by 2 1/4 lengths over Demagoguery, last year's juvenile champ at this track. Demagoguery's chances were compromised when he broke in the air.

Gerald Bennett, trainer of Demagoguery, won the week's other 3-year-old stakes, the $45,000 Regret, with Musical Factor, who defeated the 2004 filly champ, Foolininthemeadow, who finished fourth.

* Mary Doser returns to the saddle on Saturday. Doser has been out since May 17 when her mount fell and she injured her shoulder. Jorge Collazo, injured the following week, is also back riding after facial surgery necessitated by a gate accident.

* Ramon Luna, a native of Mexico, has moved his tack here from Ohio and picked up a win on Monday's card, his first night of action here. Former steward Louis Alosso handles his book.

* Friends of the late Frank Lodato Jr. gathered in the winner's circle Wednesday to honor the racing official, who died in his sleep on April 8. Mr. Lodato, a native of New Orleans who worked at Fair Grounds as well as here, would have turned 53 on June 16.
