Great Lakes: 'Charedi' comes in hot

Charedi's Peak will try for her third straight win when she faces eight 3-year-old fillies in the $50,000 Ann Arbor Stakes. Contested at one mile, the Ann Arbor is the eighth race on the card, part of Great Lakes Downs's Fan Appreciation Weekend. First post is 6:30 p.m.

Charedi's Peak has won all four of her starts at Great Lakes Downs, including the Regret and Plymouth stakes in her last two starts. Last year, she won her career debut by 22 1/4 lengths and followed by winning the Michigan Juvenile Fillies. Charedi's Peak has employed a front-running style in all of her wins. She will be ridden by Mike Allen, who was aboard for both of her wins this year.

Trainer Laura Jackson will saddle a pair of fillies: Summer Cyclone, who was second to Charedi's Peak in the Regret and Plymouth, and Fiji Island, who won a pair of stakes here last year. The pair will be uncoupled in the wagering.

Nell's Enjoyment, third in the Plymouth Stakes, won an allowance race on Aug. 2 and has not been off the board this season. Leading rider Terry Houghton has the mount.

Rounding out the Ann Arbor field are Hi Class Gift, Mostly Magical, Miss Silversides, Amandy, and Silent Sunset.
