Gray Meteor to stand in South Dakota

Gray Meteor, an unraced half-brother to Grade 1 winner Flashy Bull, will stand at the Agar, S.D., farm of new owner Paul Brandt after being purchased as a stallion prospect on Thursday for $11,000 at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale.

The 6-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song is out of the winning Mt. Livermore mare Iridescence, whose four winners from six runners includes stakes winner Pink Viper, in addition to the aforementioned Grade 1 winner and sire.

Ardell Sayler, who signed the ticket, trains Brandt’s racing stock and said one of their most successful runners played a key factor in the purchase of Grey Meteor.

“He’s got about 10 to 12 mares and was looking for a stud to breed his mares to,” Sayler said about Brandt. “He had a real nice horse named Balooga Bull by Flashy Bull, and he liked the Flashy Bull breeding.”

Bred in Kentucky by Mueller Farms and Taylor Made Stallions, Gray Meteor is from the family of Grade 1 winner Perfect Soul and Grade 2-placed Royal Weekend. He was a $310,000 purchase at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale by Adena Springs, and turned in workouts in south Florida.
Mill Ridge Sales consigned Gray Meteor as agent.
