Thunder Moccasin, who was unbeaten in his brief career, has been retired and will enter stud in 2013 at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla.

The 3-year-old A.P. Warrior colt will stand for $2,500 when the foal stands and nurses.

“Thunder Moccasin is just the right type for what the Florida breeders are hungry for,” Bridlewood general manager George G. Isaacs said. “He is a tremendous physical [horse] and showed brilliance on the racetrack. We welcome the breeders’ inspection, he’s a must-see individual.”

Thunder Moccasin won both of his career starts, earning $114,300. The colt won his maiden in December 2011 at Gulfstream Park before winning the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes in February by 6 3/4 lengths.

“Thunder Moccasin was as fast as anything we had in the barn last winter in Florida, and his impressive maiden and Hutcheson wins validated how extremely talented he is,” said Todd Pletcher, who trained the colt for Starlight Racing. “He’s an awesome-looking colt with great heart and the will to win.”

Thunder Moccasin is the only winner from three starters out of the winning Storm Cat mare One Stormy Mama.
