Grade 2 winner Majestic Heat has been retired from racing, and will be bred to champion and record-setting sire Uncle Mo in 2018. The 6-year-old Unusual Heat mare finished fifth in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita Park, closing her lifetime record at seven wins in 20 starts, with earnings of $578,329. Richard Mandella trained Majestic Heat for the partnership of Madeline Auerbach, Bardy Farm, and Ron McCauley. Majestic Heat began her career on Jan. 1 of her 3-year-old campaign, winning a one-mile maiden special weight on the Santa Anita turf by 5 ¾ lengths. Majestic Heat saw her strongest campaign last year at age 5, starting with another win in the Solana Beach. She finished the year with wins in the Betty Grable Stakes and the Grade 2 Bayakoa Stakes. Her 2018 campaign included a third in the Grade 2 Santa Maria Stakes and another in the Spring Fever Stakes. Bred in California by Auerbach and Barry Abrams, Majestic Heat is out of the winning Ole’ mare Chi Chi Nette, whose seven foals to race are all winners, including Grade 1-placed stakes winner Mensa Heat and stakes-placed Real Heat, both full siblings to Majestic Heat. Grade 1 winner Victory Encounter is in the extended family. Uncle Mo stands at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $125,000. He set the North American record for single-season juvenile earnings in 2015, his freshman season, led by champion 2-year-old male Nyquist.
