Good and Tough to stand in N.Y.

Email

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Good and Tough, who stood in 2001 at Vinery in Lexington, will relocate to Lakland North in Hudson, N.Y., beginning in 2002. The 6-year-old Carson City horse will stand next year for $6,000, down from $8,500 this year.

Lakland announced last week that Freud, a full brother to European star Giant's Causeway, also will stand at the Lakland North facility. Neither horse has arrived at the farm, as Lakland is putting the finishing touches on its new stallion barn, a farm representative said. Both horses will be on the grounds in time for a planned Jan. 19 stallion show.

Good and Tough, whose first foals were born this year, is a Grade 2-winning son of Amy Be Good. His dam, a Grade 3 winner herself, is by Northern Raja and also has produced the stakes winner Flashy Four (Storm Cat).

Good and Tough's most notable victory came in the seven-furlong Commonwealth Breeders' Cup Stakes, a Grade 2, in 1999. He also is Grade 1-placed, having finished second behind Yes It's True in the 1999 Frank De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes.
