Gone Dixie back with statebreds in Lady Razorback

EmailGone Dixie, who faced open-company stakes rivals in her last two starts, gets a shot at fellow Arkansas-breds Saturday in the $45,000 Lady Razorback Futurity at Louisiana Downs. The six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies is one of two stakes on the card. The $45,000 Razorback offers a field of 12 colts and geldings bred in Arkansas.

Gone Dixie was fifth in the $75,000 Donnie Wilhite Memorial in her last start Aug. 18, and before that finished fourth in the $50,000 Princess on July 14. Both races were at Louisiana Downs, where she won her debut against maiden special weight rivals May 25. Morris Nicks trains Gone Dixie, and has given the mount to Donnie Meche.

Other contenders in the Lady Razorback include Tricky Etbauer, who was second in a maiden special weight in her debut Sept. 19, and Stormy Rumor, who invades from Kentucky off a $50,000 maiden claiming win at Ellis Park in her career debut Aug. 19.

Bo Jelly is the speed from the rail in the Razorback. He was an 8 1/2-length debut winner at Louisiana Downs on Sept. 20, when he broke on top from post 10 in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight. Don Simington has the mount for trainer Jerry Cart.
