Golden Rhythm right back in Sangue Handicap

Email

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Golden Rhythm picked up her second stakes win in the last two weeks on Saturday, rallying strongly under Kirk LeBlanc to capture Saturday's Sangue Handicap at Louisiana Downs. Due To Win Again finished a neck back in second followed by Milligram.

LeBlanc kept Golden Rhythm ($8.00) well off the suicidal early fractions of :22.68 and :45.39 set by Sheza Nasty Lady before ranging up three wide to challenge in the second turn of the mile and a sixteenth test for fillies and mares. Due to Win Again also lodged a bid with a quarter mile remaining and proved stubborn in the long stretch battle. The final time was 1:41.89 over firm going.

Golden Rhythm, owned by Sandstone Racing Partnership No. 14 and trained by Paul Murphy, came into the Sangue fresh off a win in the Margarita Breeders Cup Handicap at Retama Park on August 2. The daughter of Rhythm was fourth in the Honeymoon here earlier this meet and won the Old South Handicap last year over this course. She earned $30,000 for the victory, taking her career bankroll to over $240,000.
