Golden Gate: Wild Promises steals Yerba Buena

Crawling on the front end of the 1 3/8-mile, $75,000 Yerba Buena Stakes at Golden Gate Fields, Wild Promises ($5.20) won her second straight stakes. Coming off a win in the Mother's Day Handicap at Bay Meadows, Wild Promises went wire to wire in the Yerba Buena, setting fractions of 26.00, 51.25, 1:17.34, and 1:42.17 before finishing in 2:17.28, defeating favored Solva by 1 1/2 lengths in the turf race, with Model third.

"She relaxed good, and that was what won the race," winning jockey David Lopez said.
