Golden Gate Fields: Vallejo to serve 30-day suspension

Email

Trainer Genaro Vallejo was handed a 90-day suspension, fined $3,000, and placed on probation for one year Sunday by stewards at Golden Gate Fields.

The ruling stemmed from a positive test for zilpaterol, a Class 1 drug, on Red Dwarf, who won the seventh race at Golden Gate Fields on April 12, 2012. Red Dwarf was disqualified, and Stroll for Us is now the winner.

Pursuant to the terms of a stipulated agreement, Vallejo will serve a 30-day suspension from Oct. 17 to Nov. 15 and be denied access to the Golden Gate Fields premises. The other 60 days of the suspension are stayed, provided Vallejo is not in violation of California Horse Racing Board rules and regulations regarding Class 1, 2, or 3 drug substances during the term of probation.

Shining the light on public information about the bad guys will help clean up our loved sport and also should give the handicappers a more level & reliable base.
