Email

Jockey Pedro Flores fractured his right collarbone and suffered bruising to his lower back Sunday when his mount fell in the fifth race at Golden Gate Fields.

Flores was taken from the Albany, Calif., racetrack to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where his injuries were diagnosed.

Flores was injured when his mount, T’s Mountain, clipped the heels of Haylescupcakeback and fell at the eighth pole. David Essman was unseated when his mount, Come Next Monday, ran into the fallen T’s Mountain. Essman was uninjured.

Both horses scrambled to their feet and appeared to be uninjured.
