Golden Doc A earns a vacation

EmailARCADIA, Calif. - Golden Doc A won her second stakes of the year, and earned an autumn vacation, with a come-from-behind victory in Saturday's $98,220 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting.

Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Golden Doc A closed from seventh in a field of nine and fought off a challenge from Foxy Danseur to win by a neck. Golden Doc A ran six furlongs in 1:08.70 over a track that has played fast over the weekend. Spring Awakening, the 9-10 favorite, finished third after leading in the stretch.

Owned by a partnership that includes trainer Barry Abrams, Golden Doc A has won 2 of 5 starts and $135,716, including the Generous Portion Stakes at Del Mar during the summer. Abrams indicated that Golden Doc A would be pointed for the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting.

* Theverythoughtof U ($6) won her second consecutive stakes in the $57,300 Pine Tree Lane Stakes for fillies and mares. Ridden by Jose Valdivia, Jr., Theverythoughtof U finished two lengths in front of Ashley’s Kitty, running 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:14.07.
