Gold Cup, Kelso live on Fox

NEW YORK - The Jockey Club Gold Cup and Kelso Handicap at Belmont Park will be shown live Saturday on Fox Sports New York after Television Games Network was able to reach a simulcast agreement with the cable network, television officials said Tuesday.

The broadcast, from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern, will be produced by TVG. The production will be broadcast on Fox Sports New York into approximately six million households in New York and parts of northern New Jersey and Connecticut. TVG reaches approximately seven million households across the country.

Fox Sports New York is part of a collection of more than 20 regional sports stations that sometimes shares programming. Because of the affiliations within the network, the racing broadcast may be picked up by other Fox Sports networks.

The Grade 1 Gold Cup and Grade 2 Kelso have usually been broadcast live as part of NBC's "Breeders' Cup Preview" coverage. But NBC's broadcast was preempted this year after NBC signed NASCAR to a long-term deal.

The Fox broadcast will include coverage of the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes and Grade 1 Frizette Stakes on tape delay. The day's other Grade 1 race, the Champagne Stakes, will be shown during a one-hour broadcast on CNBC from 4 to 5 p.m. Eastern.
