Go Go zooms in the Desert

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Go Go ran six furlongs in 1:08.09, the fastest of the current Hollywood Park meeting, to record her fourth stakes win of 2001 in Saturday's $106,000 Desert Stormer Handicap.

Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, Go Go ($4) used her customary style of stalking to leaders to win the Grade 3 Desert Stormer Handicap for fillies and mares.

Third on the backstretch, Go Go trailed Kalookan Queen to the eighth pole - through fractions of 21.78 and 44.42 - and needed the entire stretch to take command.

"She broke sharp and I let her settle," Delahoussaye said. "You can do whatever you want with her. If you hit her she doesn't like it. She sulks from it. She gives it all she's got."

A 4-year-old filly, Go Go, the 122-pound highweight, won by a half-length over Kalookan Queen, who carried 117 pounds and was making her first start in 14 months. Wired to Fly finished third, followed by Nena Maka and Image of Glory.

Trained by Warren Stute for Alan, Paula and Roger Thomas, Go Go has won $397,280. At Santa Anita earlier this year, she won the Survive Stakes and Las Flores and Las Cienegas handicaps.
