Glorious Prospect takes Genesis

Glorious Prospect wins the $50,000 Genesis for 3-year-old fillies at Delta Downs on Saturday.

Glorious Prospect pulled an 18-1 upset in the $50,000 Genesis for 3-year-old fillies at Delta Downs on Saturday night when she surged through the stretch for a three-quarter length win over Lil Cream Puff. Glorious Prospect was the lone member of the field not bred in Louisiana in the open company race. She was bred in Florida.

Short Leg Sue finished third in the Genesis.

Glorious Prospect ($39.60) settled behind the pace in the early stages of the seven furlong race, then through the stretch overtook Lil Cream Puff. Glorious Prospect covered the distance, which was around two turns, in 1:23.78.

Nathan Puello rode the filly for trainer Clayton Hurt. Glorious Prospect is now perfect in two starts, and with the $30,000 first-place check improved her earnings to $39,000. She races for Larry Stidham.
