'Glitters' to Wood; 'Troy' works

Tampa Bay Derby winner Deputy Glitters will make his next start in the $750,000 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct on April 8, trainer Tom Albertrani said.

Albertrani chose the Wood over the April 15 Blue Grass because the horse would have four weeks between his final prep and the Kentucky Derby on May 6.

"The Wood is a better spot," Albertrani said. "The timing is better for us. We have a little extra time to get him ready for the Derby. I do like the extra week."

Meanwhile, at Aqueduct on Wednesday, Achilles of Troy, who was vanned off following a fifth-place finish in the Gotham on March 18, worked six furlongs in 1:16.71 Wednesday morning over Aqueduct's main track.

While hardly an eye-catching move, the work at least proved Achilles of Troy was sound enough to remain a participant on the Triple Crown trail. Ernie Paragallo, the authorized agent for his family-run Paraneck Stable, said Achilles of Troy is likely to run in the Arkansas Derby on April 15.
