Gins Majesty wins Kent Handicap

AUBURN, Wash. - Gins Majesty upset stablemate Queenledo in Sunday's $40,450 Kent Handicap at Emerald Downs, scoring by a length after 1 1/16 miles in 1:42,80.

Under a heady ride from leading jockey Kevin Krigger, Gins Majesty kept Queenledo trapped on the rail as both fillies rated off the pace of Blanding through six furlongs in 1:10.80, then got the jump on her more accomplished entrymate as she swept past the leaders and drew out to a two length lead with a furlong to run. Queenledo closed valiantly for second under a highweight package of 124 pounds, five pounds more than her entrymate carried, and M K Beck closed for third in the field of 10.

The Tim McCanna-trained entry paid just $3.00 to win, chiefly because Queenledo was shooting for her fourth straight stakes score.

It was the first stakes win for Gins Majesty, a 3-year-old daughter of Go for Gin who races for Quadrun Farm LLC. She earned $22,000 for her third win from six career starts.
