Gigi's Skyflyer takes Senorita

Bossier City, La. - Gigi's Skyflyer stole off to an easy lead under kind handling by Jamie Theriot then held heavy favorite Cielo Girl comfortably safe to win Sunday's Senorita Stakes by three and a half lengths. Khazi finished a distant third followed by Keepthename.

Gigi's Skyflyer ($11.40), owned by George Kleier and trained by Donnie Von Hemel, cruised through the first quarter of the seven furlong test for 3-year-old fillies in :23.36 before opening up a larger advantage through the turn. Theriot kept his mount's mind on her business as they crossed the wire in a time of 1:24.02 over a sloppy strip. The win was the daughter of Skywalker's fifth in 14 starts and her first in stakes company.
