Multiple Grade 1 winner Giant Oak was represented by his first foal on Jan. 8, a filly born at Jacob Nance’s I.R. Bloodstock at Dearborn Farm in Midway, Ky.
The chestnut filly, out of the stakes winning Ghazi mare Silent Emotion, is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Unspoken Word. Silent Emotion is a half-sister to No Deadline, dam of Group 1-placed stakes winner Cannonball.
Giant Oak, a 7-year-old by Giant's Causeway, crossed the finish line second in the Grade 1 Clark Handicap in 2010, but was awarded the victory via disqualification. In his subsequent start, he earned a second Grade 1 win, taking the 2011 Donn Handicap. He placed in 10 other graded stakes events, including a third in the Grade 1 Whitney Invitational Handicap in 2011, and retired with earnings of $1,484,829.
Giant Oak entered stud at Millennium Farms in Lexington, Ky. for a fee of $7,500 in 2012. He will stand for the same fee in 2013.
