Ghostly Thunder back

The well-accomplished but long-absent Ghostly Thunder faces two sharp horses returning on short rest in the $50,000 Salerno, a seven-furlong stakes restricted to West Virginia-breds, at Charles Town.

The 3-year-old Ghostly Thunder, based in Maryland with trainer Gary Capuano, romped in his last two visits to Charles Town last fall, capturing the Tri-State Futurity and the West Virginia Futurity. He will be making his first start since finishing third in the OBS Championship in Ocala, Fla., in early February.

Peaceful Bliss and Butler both are wheeling back quickly after good efforts.

The 4-year-old Peaceful Bliss is back eight days after finishing second in a 1 1/16-mile race at Pimlico, a race that was his first start since February. He won an allowance race locally coming back in 10 days last year and was third in last fall's seven-furlong West Virginia Lottery.

Butler, a 4-year-old gelding, has won four straight by a combined margin of 21 1/2 lengths since he was claimed for $6,500 in January by trainer Stephanie Beattie. He is back a week after crushing first-level allowance foes by seven lengths.
