Ghost Is Clear wins photo in Forego Stakes

Email

Ghost Is Clear appeared beaten shortly after the start of the $56,460 Forego Stakes at Turfway Park on Saturday night when slow into stride, and more so at the finish when Hollywood Talent resurged inside of him just before the wire. But in the end, right beneath the finish line, the photo camera showed Ghost Is Clear the narrowest of winners.

With his head surging forward right in a head-bobbing finish with Hollywood Talent, Ghost Is Clear prevailed by a nose under John McKee, rewarding his nervous backers that made him the 6-5 favorite. He paid $4.60.

The winner, a 7-year-old gelded son of Ghostzapper owned by trainer Mike Maker and Jana Wagner, raced 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:18.45. He rallied wide from eighth to post what would become his fourth win in five starts at Turfway Park.

Hollywood Talent, who drew into the race from the also-eligible list, was brave in defeat and took the worst of head bob. He finished two lengths clear of Pataky Kid in third, with Kiwi Notion 5 1/4 lengths farther back for fourth.

I have seen 1000 photos...and can accurately pick the winner of each photo 995 out of 1000 times.....Glad I was wrong yesterday....he seemed beat for sure.
