Generous Touch (1), with Eurico Da Silva aboard, wins the Ruling Angel by a neck Saturday at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - The versatile Generous Touch notched her third stakes victory of the Woodbine meet in Saturday’s $114,200 Ruling Angel, under a patient ride from Eurico Da Silva.

Generous Touch ($6.50) broke a bit awkwardly from the inside post in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint, but quickly got into contention. Theatric set an honest pace, with Cactus Copy in close proximity, and Generous Touch began a rally from fifth while splitting horses at the quarter pole.

Generous Touch caught Cactus Copy while hitting the front near the eighth pole, and held Cactus Copy at bay in the final sixteenth to win by a neck, in 1:16.33. Longshot Sweet Crimson outran lukewarm favorite Moms Choice for third in the eight-horse field of 3-year-old fillies.

“I broke, and she wanted to be a little sharper,” Da Silva said. “But I saw the speed was very strong from the outside, so I just decided to take her back. I had a lot of horse. I was behind a wall. I was very glad that I had room to split horses. She did it so easy. When she turned for home, she was a killer.”

Generous Touch, a daughter of former Ontario sire Philanthropist, collected $72,000 for Norseman Racing Stable and trainer Sid Attard.
