Grade 1 winner General Quarters was represented by his first foal in early January, a filly born at Red Sunset Farm near Ocala, Fla.
The chestnut filly is out of the Pentilicus mare Hannah's Ink, dam of three winners from seven starters, including stakes winner Rate of Exchange. Hannah's Ink is a half-sister to 12 winners, including Alltheway Bertie and Woman of Substance, both stakes winners and producers.
General Quarters, a 7-year-old Sky Mesa horse, captured Grade 1 events on both Polytrack and turf, taking the 2009 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland and the 2010 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes on the turf at Churchill Downs. He also won the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes on dirt at Tampa Bay Downs and overall won or placed in 10 stakes. He retired with earnings of $1,226,655.
Out of the Unbridled's Song mare Ecology, General Quarters will stand for a fee of $7,500 at Woodford Stallions at Stonewall Farm Ocala for 2013. His 2012 fee was $8,500.
Loved this horse and his trainer - successfully wagered on him in the W R, Derby Day'10. Seems he did not take to the AP turf on Millions day. Hannah's Ink is a recent familiarity - look forward to the filly runnin on grass!
