There was little doubt that Geeky Gorgeous was the best horse in the $60,000 Eleven North Handicap at Monmouth Park on Saturday. The question was, could she win under 128 pounds? The answer is yes. Unhurried early in the six-furlong race under Angel Serpa, Geeky Gorgeous bid for the lead three wide on the far turn and then wore down P J's Superego in the stretch to win by one length. She paid $3.40 as the favorite in the field of five and was timed in 1:09.74. P J's Superego pressed an early pace of 22.65 and 45.27 seconds outside 17-10 second choice More Than a Party. She finished a clear second, 2 1/4 lengths ahead of More Than a Party, who saved third by three-quarters of a length over Pinot Grigio. The win was the 10th in 20 career starts for Geeky Gorgeous, a 5-year-old daughter of Devil His Due. Geeky Gorgeous is owned and trained by Danny Lopez. The Eleven North was the first of four stakes for New Jersey-breds on Saturday's card at Monmouth.
