Gallorette: Top contenders all outside

A field of 13 was entered for the Grade 3, $100,000 Gallorette Handicap for fillies, with the three top contenders drawing outside posts.

Trainer Christophe Clement entered two horses in the race, with the Irish-bred Siringas looking the stronger of the two. She will break from post 10 under Edgar Prado.

In her U.S. debut last Oct. 26, Siringas was beaten a nose by Verruma in the Grade 3 Athenia Handicap at Belmont Park. She returned to the races in March, winning a second-level allowance race by four lengths and finishing second to Beefeater Baby in a third-level allowance race at Keeneland. Clement, who also sends out Step With Style, takes the blinkers off Siringas.

Watch, who is 3-2-0 in five starts since going on Lasix, makes her first start since winning the Cardinal Handicap last Nov. 10. Now in Bill Mott's barn, Watch will break from post 11 under Jerry Bailey.

It may not matter that the Michael Dickinson-trained mare De Aar drew the outside post in the 13-horse field. She has no early speed and figures to try and rally from well back under Pat Day.
