Galleon Mast won his second straight stakes with The Vid on Monday.

Galleon Mast rallied into a slow pace to win the $50,000 The Vid Handicap at Gulfstream Park on Monday.

He paid $3.60 for his 2 1/4-length victory over stablemate Blue Harbor in the 1 1/16-mile race on turf for 3-year-olds and up.

With leading rider Tyler Gaffalione riding for trainer David Fawkes, Galleon Mast was sitting sixth in the seven-horse field while Diamond Bachelor, under pressure from Blue Harbor, posted a half-mile time of 49:78 seconds. He split horses to move into contention on the stretch turn, but, appearing to be fully loaded, he was stuck behind the two front-runners and Keepthedreamalive with nowhere to go.

When Keepthedreamalive drifted out coming out of the turn Galleon Mast immediately responded for Gaffalione and finished full of run outside of Blue Harbor to win going away. Blue Harbor held on well to finish 1 1/14 lengths in front of J R’s Holiday, who came from a stalking position.

The final time was 1:42.58.

It was the second straight stakes win for the 4-year-old son of Mizzen Mast. The $30,380 winner’s share brought his career earnings to $252,780. The Florida-bred gelding is owned by Anne Scott.

* The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot at Gulfstream Park was hit Monday for $166,304. The winning combination was purchased on Xpressbet with a $48 ticket, according a release from Gulfstream.
