Gallant Son relocates to Daehling Ranch in California

Grade 3 winner Gallant Son will move to Daehling Ranch in Elk Grove, Calif., for the 2016 breeding season, standing for an advertised fee of $2,000.

The 9-year-old son of Malabar Gold debuted at stud in 2015 at Bar C Racing Stables in Hermiston, Ore., for the same fee.

Gallant Son retired with 11 wins in 40 starts over seven seasons of racing for earnings of $552,529. His most notable win came in the Grade 3 Inglewood Handicap in 2010, along with eight additional non-graded stakes wins and placings in the Grade 3 Sir Beaufort Stakes and two editions of the San Francisco Mile. Frank Lucarelli trained the horse for Randall and Rossi LLC for the bulk of his career.

Bred in Kentucky by Tony Holmes and Highclere, Gallant Son is out of the winning Exploit mare Explicitly, whose four winners from five foals to race include 2011 Korean Horse of the Year Ace Galloper and Korean stakes-placed Royal Galloper. He is from the family of Canadian champions Apelia and Saoirse, Japan Cup Dirt winner Fleetstreet Dancer, Grade 2 winner More Happy, Grade/Group 3 winners Street Rebel and Hide and Chic, and Ponche, broodmare sire of Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Mucho Macho Man.
